Membership Application

Our Mission: The “Aquatic Explorers Scuba Club” is dedicated to promoting and protecting the sport of scuba diving. It provides members with a network of recreational and professional divers to share  experiences, to learn from and dive with.

Our History: The scuba club was first Incorporated June 21, 1957 as the “Empire State Rescue  Squad” and began teaching Scuba in 1958. In 1960 the name was changed to the “Aquatic  Explorers” and the club participated in many dive activities in the local lakes and rivers.

Our Location: The Aquatic Explorers Scuba Club is located in Poughkeepsie, NY

Your Opportunity: The Aquatic Explorers Scuba Club is always happy to welcome new members.  The club includes many dive enthusiasts who come together to share their experiences and further  their dive knowledge. The club also provides a place to find dependable dive buddies. Some  benefits to members in good standing include: having access to the club’s air shed, where certified  divers can get free air any time, being able to borrow club tanks, access to an O2 kit and getting  yearly free visual tank inspections.

To become a member, just complete the membership application and email it to the Membership Chair, Doug Chenery. You may also come to a club meeting and apply in person.

New members are voted in during our club meetings, held the second Monday of every month at the American Legion Hall on Overlook Road in Poughkeepsie, NY at 7:30pm. Active members are required to pay the yearly membership dues and commit to satisfying the 12 work hour/credits per  year.

Come join us for some scuba, snorkeling and good fun with a great group of people!
